The holidays are the times of the year where it seems like everyone struggles to budget money. I am here to help! Below are five tips that can make shopping during the holidays, a little bit easier.
- Get a job! - A lot of places hire during the holiday period (After Thanksgiving to News Years) it’s the perfect time to make some money especially if you are a college student and you are home the holidays. Of course they will not be 40 hour weeks but it is a few hours that can fill your pockets with a little bit more cash.
- Decide how much you want to spend, and stick to it! - When you have budget of how much you want to spend, make a list of people you want to buy gifts for start to narrow down the max you want to spend on each person. It may feel like you are putting a price tag on the people you care about in your life, but you really preventing yourself from over spending!
- Look for sales and additional discounts! - A lot of stores during this time have great sales that are to benefit you! Plus if you are a college student don’t be afraid to ask for discounts with you college ID. You will be surprised how many stores and restaurants offer it, but we as college student just don’t take advantage of them.
- Don’t last minute shop!- I am guilty of this myself, but I did pretty good job starting early this year. I personally believe that if you start early, it can’t prevent unnecessary spending that can make you broke after the holiday season.
- Make online shopping your friend! - I know a lot of people who think online shopping can be unreliable or more complicated then what it really is. A lot of websites actually offer little to no cost shipping and or discounts for online shopping during the holidays. This is something you may want to take advantage of.
